Intelligent field devices for optimum integration

Siemens offers a number of intelligent field devices for process automation which can be optimally integrated in the environment of the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system.
Flexibility in the data exchange with field devices
In addition to the central and distributed I/O modules, SIMATIC PCS 7 also supports the integration of intelligent field devices.

For this purpose, PCS 7 is designed for connecting both field devices with HART protocol and bus-capable devices via PROFIBUS-DP/-PA:

The simple integration of field devices enables you to save up to 45% of the installation costs and at the same time protect your earlier investments by simply integrating the existing field instrumentation in your PCS 7 system.

The whole thing is rounded off by the SIMATIC PDM software package with which you can parameterize, configure and commission field devices either off-line or on-line among other things.

Best link to the field area
The PROFIBUS-DP takes care of data exchange between automation systems and distributed peripheral as well as intelligent field devices – at extremely low
installation effort. The SIMATIC signal modules and the SIMATIC function modules are linked either by SIMATIC ET 200M or centrally, i.e. plugged directly into the S7-400.

The field devices includes:
temperature measuring instruments
pressure and filling level measuring instruments
flow and volume measuring instruments,
position controllers,
electrical actuators, as well as all other PROFIBUS-capable field devices.
